7/7/2023 0 Comments Endview plantation jobsThe focus of this year's camps will be the battles fought in the "Western" theater of the war in 1863. They learn how to march and fight like Civil War soldiers and recreate historic battles through the week while interacting with costumed interpreters. Children are taught about the lives of Civil War soldiers and "join" the army themselves. They are given a cap gun, caps, Civil War replica hat, canteen, and haversack. The camp allows children to choose to be a Union or Confederate soldier. This annual Civil War themed kids' summer camp has been running for over 20 years. This year’s theme will focus on the western battles in 1863. Experiences include camp life, drills and battles. Participants will get the chance to “join the army” for the week and experience life as a Civil War soldier. This fun and educational camp is for boys and girls ages 8-13. It has now been restored to reflect the Civil War time period.ĬAMP PROGRAM INFO: Children’s Civil War Summer Camp This is a great location for kids to be outside and explore while learning about the Civil War.ĬAMP FACILITIES: The centerpiece of the property is the 1769 plantation house known as "Endview." The house is surrounded by the fields and woods used by the Harwood family since the 1630's. The property includes, fields, woods, recreated Civil War fortifications, and a stream.
